Yesterday I missed Kevin's Breezo but I saw a interesting post in FlashLite list about that session by Tim Walling :
Listened in today on the live discussion by Kevin Lynch. Mobile
development was talked about quite a bit. I believe the meeting was
recorded and will be made available for anyone who missed it.
It was basically a long Q/A session which was great because Kevin took a
variety of questions. The beginning of the meeting was pretty much a
quick review of the Flash Platform whitepaper.
I'll see if I can remember a few points (I didn't take any notes)
- "Deuce" is in devlopment (we knew this)
- in addition to AS 2.0, looking at phone features such as sound, video
was up in the air, he said it depends on the device and they are looking
into it
- addressed the push for targeting the largest mobile phone carriers,
getting them to adopt flash lite so its installed by default
- addressed a question concerning upgrading, said it depends on the
device, a lot of the devices that come with flash lite or will come it,
will have the player burned into the ROM, some devices you can install
the player, this will lead to a slower turnaround for upgrading since
its dependent on people just getting a new phone that has an updated player
- looking at flash lite in flex, said for now flex is targeting large
screens/pc, etc, they are looking at the types of patterns people
develop when working on apps on small devices so that they can then take
these patterns and make them available in flex
There are some other things I'm missing... I thought it was a great
session, it was nice of Kevin to take so many questions.
Great summary Tim !
Thanks
