Nokia said Tuesday it successfully tested what it called the first high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) data connection with Vodafone Italy. Data speeds of 1.5Mbps were reached in the test, Nokia said.
Giuseppe Donagemma, vice president of Networks, Nokia, said the test demonstrated Nokia’s HSDPA technology is ready to operate with WCDMA 3G and the very high data speeds associated with 3G.
The end-to-end call was carried out at Vodafone Italy’s test facilities and utilized a commercial UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network), Nokia said.
