360Flex Europe, the rough guide #1: How to reach the conference hotel

360|Flex Europe (held 7 - 9 April 2008) is the first European Conference purely about Adobe's Flex and AIR technology. The location chosen for the event is Milan, Italy.

306_flex_italy_125 As you probably know I'm italian so I wanto to give you informations, directions and tips about the city of the conference. The hotel that will hold the 360Flex Europe is the following :
StarHotel Business Palace
Via Gaggia, 3
MILANO, 20139
Italy

The venue is located in the business district of East Milano, 5 km from the heart of the city and 8 km from the Fieramilanocity (Fairgrounds), and a few minutes from the Linate Airport.
From the Linate Airport you can take the bus 73 runs daily that  connects the airport with the Milan underground at San Babila Station on the red line, one stop from the city’s central Duomo Station, where it is possible to change to the yellow north-south line. The yellow line is the one that connects you to the Porto di Mare stop. This is the nearest metro station to the  StarHotel Business Palace.

There is also a shuttle bus to Milan Malpensa Airport Terminal 1, on the other side of the city (journey time - 75 minutes).
There is an airport coach service which runs to the Air Terminal at Milan Central Station.

My advice is to reach one metro station (San Babila or Milan Central Station) and go to the yellow line.
If you're lazy or your company will provide your expenses :) you can take a taxi from the airport for about 25euros.

If you land at the Malpensa Airport (to avoid) you can take the following transportation. Taxi from Malpensa are very expensive (70-80 Euro) and it's a long trip (at least 1 hour).

If you flight via RyanAir you'll land at Orio Al Serio Airport that is located 45km (27miles) from Milan, and 5 km from Bergamo. It's not so bad to choose this option as the RyanAir flights are very cheap (from london to milan you can spend 50 euro for a return flight). Forget to take a taxi (100 euro to reach Milan) and take the Terravision Coach just outside the airport. The fare is 8 euro.

Now you have the essential guide to reach the conference and you don't have any excuse to miss the 360Flex conference :)
In the next article I'll give you some tips about alternative hotels to save money.

360Flex Europe is €360 per attendee. It's pricing was in effect before the survey, so it'll be the last show at the 360 price point. Due to it still being 360, there is no team discount for 360Flex Europe.

Hotel rates for Europe are €140 per night (This rate will expire on 21 January 2008).  Utilize this form to get the group rate.
