If you want to update the Adobe AIR runtime manually you have to disable the auto-update capability. Using the AIR SettingsManager you can disable it.
AIR SettingsManager is a small application that use a toggle button to Enable or Disable auto-updates as desired.

Adobe's programming crap for windows since years. You see it: Stupid Tools for deactivating updates and never seen a hint about this, maybe adobe think we're all stupid users and can't work with your batch-file hint... ;) One of the best examples is Adobe CS4 InDesign: When you didn't give the user full rights for the inDesign part in the registry, it still remains in english language but all other CS apps are in german... they didn't test their products well, same as apple... adobe is from the apple side of the computerworld and i see it in every detail of their software... Just poor, i cried when Adobe bought macromedia because i knew dreamweaver, flash etc will going to be worse software in future.
