Long overdue vacation begins! I'll be back at the end of July !

Seychelles A new adventure is about to start. And this time programming has nothing to do with this ;)
Tomorrow I'll leave for Seychelles islands for two weeks  holiday !

I'll visit Mahe, Praslin and La Digue plus some minor small atollos (Cousin Island,Coco Island, Coconout Island, Fregate Island and more).

I'm a diver  so I can't wait to explore the deep Indian Ocean ;)

I'll be back on 27 July !

Let FlexGala hear from you. Help the Flex community to make it better !

FlexGala, the italian Flex and AIR community, is 2 years old.  It reaches great numbers : more than 2000 registered  members, 600 unique daily visits, 40.000 unique pageviews. This is an awesome success for a RIA community in Italy.

So it's now time to hear  the thoughts of people that join and make the community itself.  We've created a quick survey that will allow FlexGala to know your feedbacks and ideas in order to improve and better calibrate the next contents and events of the community.

The survey requires no more than 2 minutes to be completed (in italian language of course). Thanks for your support.

Virtual Reality with Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar

It's too cool : Using the infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), you can accurately track the location of your head and render view dependent images on the screen. This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a virtual environment. The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space. By Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. Back to my Christmas Holiday and ready to start the 2008

Sta71628This Christmas holidays have been the most long of my life. The last six month of 2007 have been very intensive for me: Comtaste grew, we hired new people, we took new interesting projects plus a lot of consulting and training activities on Flex development, I've finished my Flex 3 Solutions book and many other things ... So I've arrived at December done and I needed a break to recharge my strenght for the new year.

I decided to visit one of the Caribbean island (Gran Bahamas) and then I travelled from Miami to Key West. It was a wonderful trip and I enjoyed all the time !
Now I'm ready and I'm full of news. So keep updated on my blog ;)

Merry Christmas !

Our best wishes for a happy Christmas from the Comtaste Consulting Team.

Comtastegreetings

Leaving for Santorini, Greek to make a short break vacation

628pxsantorinipartialpano

I'm preparing my luggages. In a few hours I'll leave for Santorini, Greek for one week holiday.
I'll be back by 22 of July.

Santorini  is a small, circular archipelago of volcanic islands located in southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km south-east from Greece's mainland. It is also known as Thera (or Thira, Greek Θήρα, IPA: ˈθira). It is the southernmost member of the Cyclades group of islands, with an area of approximately 73 km² (28 mi²), and in 2001 had an estimated population of 13,600. Santorini is essentially what has been left from an enormous volcanic explosion which destroyed the settlements thereon and led to the creation of the current geological caldera. Its spectacular natural beauty along with its eminent nightlife make the island one of Europe's top tourist hotspots.

How to become a nasty girl

This is the first time I use my blog for a non technical issue.
But recently  a friend of mine started a cool blog to teach women in  becoming a real bit## and nasty girls:

http://scuoladistronze.blogspot.com/

Everyone can partecipate and join the community but so far they're all women !

FlexFrame for Oracle

It's not a new Flex 2 technology instead FlexFrame for Oracle is the first dynamic solution based on Oracle Grid Technology – for more efficiency and quality.

On 19th October in Milan will be the SOA Symposium Conference, and if you're  a decision-maker and someone in charge of data centers, IT architecture, infrastructures, maintenance or support, you can learn about the benefits of fully integrated, dynamic end-to-end infrastructure solutions for applications based on Oracle 10g grid technology and can evolve toward SOA.

The conference seams to be very interesting but I'll be out for the MAX so I won't partecipate.

Ennio Morricone's concert at Verona's Arena

Yesterday I was in Verona for the Ennio Morricone's concert.
It was the best concert I've ever seen !
The Arena is a sweet and wonderful place for concerts and when the Soprano Susanna Rigacci played with the orchestra and the chorus Ennio Morricone's western  soundtracks ( A fistful of Dollars, Once Upon a Time in America and The good, the Bad and the Ugly ) it was the top !
Thanks to my lovely girlfriend who made me a gift  !

For those who doesn't know who is Ennio Morricone (where did you live these last year :) ) see his biography on Wikipedia.

We reached the final Germany 2006 World Cup round, Germany 0 Italy 2

I promised that I never blogged about results of my football team during this World Cup , Italy, but yesterday we played a fabolous match !
Italy strikes 2 golas to Germany just 90 seconds of the surplus time remaining and penalties looming.
Still, Germany team has never beaten the Azzurri at such affairs !

We're in the Final Round !

I'll be Out of Office on a 'long-overdue' vacation

I will be out of the office from 8/28 to 9/6 on a 'long-overdue' vacation.
Finally my fiancee and I decided where to spent our vacation. We had to spent 10 days and we oscillated between Red Sea and Santo Domingo. We love sea.
So, now we know : Hurghada, Red Sea -  Egypt.

And we chose a fantastic hotel :)) : the Oberoi. Immediately I googled it to see their site and I noticed that they published a video (a 15 secs showreel) in Flash Video format !

Hasheesh_hoteloverview_img4 Oberoi Hotel, Sahl Hasheesh is a luxurious all-suite resort set on the coast of the Red Sea at Hurghada. With 48 acres of palm-filled grounds and 850 metres of private sandy beach, Sahl Hasheesh is a spectacular and dramatic resort. Shady marble colonnades, domed pavilions, atriums open to the sky – the elegance of the traditionally inspired contemporary Arabic architecture are a perfect complement to the setting. Unlike so many resorts, the buildings enhance the environment here.

We decided to book one of 21 Superior Deluxe Suites,a  spacious and elegantly with  luxurious bathrooms with separate shower stalls. Their sunken marble baths overlook a private open-air walled garden. In addition, there are 12 larger Grand Suites have their own private swimming pool, heated in the cooler months.

The site is very clean and easy to navigate. They had a sweet flash slideshow image gallery and a showreel video in FLV format :) Just click on Oberoi Hotel Video option.

Pope John Paul Dies, Amen.

He was the world's most charismatic Christian.
He helped topple communism in Europe and left a deeply conservative stamp on the church that he led for 26 years.
He supported for better relations with Muslims and Jews.

Now he's dead but "His Holiness is now at home with God, whom he served so faithfully for a lifetime."

Grazie.
