Google I/O begins in less than 48 hours! Even if you're not attending in person, you can still get all the news via the live stream.
Larry Page should not be on stage as he's sick (with no voice)!
The first day's keynote will be at 9:30 a.m. PDT on June 27, and the second day's is at 10:00 a.m. PDT on June 28. Lots of cool Chrome and HTML5 sessions that you really don't want to miss will also be streamed live. Other sessions will be recorded and made available soon after the conference.
Kevin Lynch has just announced the availability of a new HTML5 Pack for Dreamweaver CS5 at the Google I/O Day 1 Keynote.
CTO of Adobe has also showed a CSS 3 Animator tool, how to export a SVG file from a vector graphic created with Adobe Illustrator and the roundtrip with Dreamweaver that supports HTML 5.
The pack for Dreamweaver CS5 will enhance the Web design application’s HTML5 support and includes the ability to preview what HTML5-based designs will look like across multiple devices.
The HTML5 pack for Dreamweaver is available today on Adobe Labs.
The HTML5 Pack for Dreamweaver CS5 is an extension that adds support for HTML5 and CSS3 in Dreamweaver. This article provides a brief overview of HTML5 and CSS3, and outlines the new features available in Dreamweaver once the extension has been installed.
For a video demonstration that shows you how to work with the HTML5 Pack in Dreamweaver, see Introducing the Dreamweaver CS5 HTML5 Pack on Adobe TV
Kevin Lynch has just said that the Flash Player will embed the new open source VP8 codec at the Google I/O Day 1 Keynote.

Isn't that cool ? Can't image what he's gonna show at the MAX 2010 !
It has been announced right now the open source video codec project WebM:
The WebM project is dedicated to developing a high-quality, open video format for the web that is freely available to everyone.
The WebM launch is supported by Mozilla, Opera, Google and more than forty other publishers, software and hardware vendors.
WebM is an open, royalty-free, media file format designed for the web.
WebM defines the file container structure, video and audio formats. WebM files consist of video streams compressed with the VP8 video codec and audio streams compressed with the Vorbis audio codec. The WebM file structure is based on the Matroska container.
Google Drawings is a new collaborative drawings editor released as part of Google Docs developed using HTML 5. In fact it requires a HTML5 compliant (SVG compliant) web browser.
Google Docs now has a collaborative drawings editor that makes it easy to build organizational charts, flow charts, design diagrams and much more:
- Share drawings just like any other Google Doc
- Download in a variety of formats
- Co-edit and view changes in real real-time
- Chat with other editors
- Use web clipboard to easily insert into other Google Docs
I've just discovered this incredible project (that it's not so new):
Google's Liquid Galaxy is engineer Jason Holt's 20% time project, a wraparound view of 8 LCD screens providing a truly immersive experience of Google Earth and Street View.
Playing back the panoramas like a flipbook made it feel like we were zooming through the streets of the world.
Today Google has announced the open source project Chromium OS. Google Chromium OS is the brand new name for the Google Chrome OS, the open source operating system for people who spend most of their time on the web.
The project looks very promising and interesting. It's a totally new idea of operating system that isall about web applications.
This is what Google says about the Chromium OS project:
The entire experience takes place within the browser and there are no conventional desktop applications. This means users do not have to deal with installing, managing and updating programs.
Second, because all apps live within the browser, there are significant benefits to security. Unlike traditional operating systems, Chrome OS doesn't trust the applications you run. Each app is contained within a security sandbox making it harder for malware and viruses to infect your computer. Furthermore, Chrome OS barely trusts itself. Every time you restart your computer the operating system verifies the integrity of its code. If your system has been compromised, it is designed to fix itself with a reboot. While no computer can be made completely secure, we're going to make life much harder (and less profitable) for the bad guys. If you dig security, read the Chrome OS Security Overview or watch the video.
Google Chrome OS will be ready for consumers this time next year.
I'm a really big fan of Google Maps and Street View.
So it has been a great shot when I've realized that you can now find the best places to eat, shop and stay directly on Google Mpas.
Just click on "more info" to get reviews, ratings, business hours, and check out its Street View. The feature is also supported on Google Maps Mobile !
