With the same configuration on the Flex Builder 2 Eclipse plug in on a laptop I got a strange behavior. Consider the following simple code :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="vertical" creationComplete="srv.send()">
<mx:HTTPService id="srv" url="assets/categorylist.xml" />
<mx:Panel width="250" height="200" layout="absolute">
<mx:DataGrid id="mioDG" dataProvider="{srv.lastResult.list.category}" x="35" y="8"/>
</mx:Panel>
</mx:Application>
I obtain an error 2148 (returned from the faultstring). Reading the Flex 2 Run Time errors I discovered that the 2148 error occurs when SWF file _ cannot access local resource _. Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources.
The alert window shows me this text :
[RPC Fault faultString="Error #2148: SWF file file:///C:/programmi/eclipse/flex2-2/workspace/bin/panel.swf cannot access local resource assets/data.xml. Only local-with-filesystem and trusted local SWF files may access local resources."
faultCode="InvokeFailed"
faultDetail="null"]
The only way to make it works is to go adding the arguments to compiler (via Properties - Flex Compiler) :
-use-network=false
Do you know how it's possible to have this different behavior between two laptops with the same configuration ?
Unfairness – this is hardest to deal with, but unfortunately that is how our country works. People with connections, rich dads, beautiful faces, pedigree find it easier to make it – not just in Bollywood, but everywhere. And sometimes it is just plain luck. There are so few opportunities in India, so many stars need to be aligned for you to make it happen. Merit and hard work is not always linked to achievement in the short term, but the long term correlation is high, and ultimately things do work out. But realize, there will be some people luckier than you.
